About Muskegon Lake and our Ice Trips
Muskegon Lake (connected to Lake Michigan) is seeing a resurgence of its once exceptional perch fishing. In the 1980's, Muskegon Lake as well as many other drowned river mouth lakes in West Michigan enjoyed a decade plus of banner winter perch fishing. This excellent fishing slowed in the early '90's and after a long down cycle is now recovering exceptionally well. In fact, many biologist believe the fishery will actually surpass that of the 80's. Perch are almost always hungry and limits catches (50/angler) of perch in the 7-12" range are being caught almost daily.

Our trips are 5 hours and start with one of our guides meeting the anglers at the launch, loading up on an ATV and trailer and heading to the fishing grounds. After arriving at the fishing location the guide will get everything set up, fire up the heater and then walk the anglers through the basics of perch fishing. A pick up time will be set and in most cases the guide will return to the anglers half way through to see how it's going and if they need anything. If the fisherman limit out before the scheduled pick up time they can call the guide on his cell phone and he will be on his way to pick them up. If anglers do not have a cell phone, one will be provided.
