We are blessed in Michigan to have great Brown, Rainbow and Brook Trout fishing open all year on many rivers. If I had to pick a time to go out and target big trout it would be late spring and early summer. Casting stick baits such as rapalas can bring big trout to the net at this time. We also will deploy Centerpin and Fly fishing techniques when chasing trout. We will chase trout year round where open but we like to give them a break in the hot summer months. As the water gets very warm the trout have a hard time surviving after they put up a great fight.
